Law on the Duties and Powers of the Ministry of Oil of 2012
This law establishes and mandates the Ministry of Oil to implement the general policies of the oil and gas sector in Iran. This includes policymaking, governance, planning and monitoring of all upstream and downstream operations in the oil, gas, petrochemical and refining sectors. It shall also oversee the sovereignty and public ownership of oil and gas resources on behalf of the government. The law further stipulates matters pertaining to investment and financing of contracts and projects in the upstream sector of the oil industry. Regulation of the Climate Change Convention and Kyoto Protocol
This regulation implements the United Nations Climate Change Framework Convention (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol in Iran. It requires all entities to follow pertaining guidelines and to report related activities continuously.
It also established a national committee with the primary objective of increasing cooperation with international entities and monitoring domestic measures to comply with UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol regulations.
Furthermore, this regulation contains provisions on the institutional framework, policies and strategies related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
