IEA Contribution to G20 Energy in 2017

Conference — Hamburg, Germany

G20 Germany 2017

IEA has played a critical role in the energy and climate track of the German G20. The G20 Hamburg Climate and Energy Action Plan for Growth 2017 reflects core IEA contributions: the IEA/IRENA report Perspectives for the Energy Transition: Investment Needs for a Low Carbon Energy System and related OECD report "Investing in Climate, Investing in Growth" and the OECD/IEA update report on inefficient fossil fuel subsidies‌. The Action Plan invites the IEA to regularly report on the energy transformation and investment needs. The IEA co-organised jointly with IPEEC the G20 Energy Efficiency Forum in Hamburg (2 May 2017), a cornerstone of the G20 2016 Energy Efficiency Leading Programme. For the G20, the IEA spearheads the tracking of G20 progress on energy access, system integration of variable energy sources and system flexibility, energy efficiency as well as related investment and technology perspectives.
