Future Made in Australia - Renewable Energy Superpower (Solar Sunshot Program)
As part of the Future Made in Australia plan, the Australian government announced AUD 1 billion in funding for creation of the Solar Sunshot programme, which is to be administered by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). This programme will provide production incentives and grants for the development of solar manufacturing capacity, with a specific focus on former coal communities. A total of AUD 835.6 million over 10 years, with an additional AUD 200 million between 2034 and 2036, was allocated to the Solar Sunshot programme in the 2024-2025 budget.

National emissions trading scheme
…October 2022. Although the NEHG does not establish a carbon tax, the carbon pricing instrument follows in central parts the logic of existing energy taxes (fuel tax, coal tax, and natural gas tax). Thus, if a certain event is taxable under the existing energy taxes regime, an obligation to buy allowances arises under the NEHG. Taxable events are the production, import, or release of energy products from a tax warehouse in Austria or the supply of coal and natural gas to consumers. In practice, only a limited number of energy distributors and oil companies are subject to the NEHG, while…

10th Basic Energy Plan for Electricity Supply and Demand (2023-2036)
…as synchronous condensers (to provide grid inertia) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS).A key pillar of the plan is the introduction of hydrogen and ammonia co-firing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the power sector. Revised targets for 2030 include generating 13.0 TWh from hydrogen and ammonia (equivalent to 2.1% of total electricity generation), which includes 6.1 TWh from hydrogen co-firing with LNG and 6.9 TWh from ammonia co-firing with coal. The plan also identifies stationary fuel cells as a critical renewable resource, projecting a rated capacity of 3,947 MW by 2036…

The 3rd Basic Energy Plan (2019-2040)
…and transport.Energy Mix Transition: Aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 30-35% by 2040 while drastically reducing coal power and gradually phasing out nuclear energy (by halting new construction and ending lifespan extensions).Decentralized Systems: Plans to increase the proportion of distributed power generation from 12% (in 2017) to 30% by 2040 and strengthen the roles of local governments and "energy prosumers".Industrial Competitiveness: Fosters future industries like hydrogen (targeting 2.9 million FCVs and 10.1GW of fuel cells by 2040) and renewable energy while adding high value to traditional oil and gas sectors.Market…
