Castor initiative to research the use of amonia as a marine fuel
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has joined the Ammonia-fueled tanker Joint Development Project (JDP), an industry-led project, to research the use of ammonia as a marine fuel to reduce carbon emissions.
Members of the coalition, named the Castor Initiative, include Lloyd’s Register, Samsung Heavy Industries, MAN Energy Solutions and Norwegian chemical company Yara International ASA.
The consortium will be able to make use of the MPA’s experience as a bunkering hub to gather insights on safety issues and ammonia bunkering procedures, and gain access to research capabilities in Singapore.

National Methane Action Plan
Sweden's National Methane Action Plan, submitted to the Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) in 2022, maps current and projected methane emissions and reviews the national strategies, policies and measures targeting mitigation. The agricultural sector is responsible for the majority of emissions, followed by waste, land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF) and the energy sector. Economy-wide emissions have decreased by roughly 42% from 1990 levels to reach a total of 4.6 Mt CO2-eq in 2020. EUR 500 million investment in nuclear
The government of the Netherlands plans to “keep the nuclear power plant in Borssele open for longer, with an eye on safety”, investing EUR 500 million towards nuclear power. According to the new government's coalition agreement, a EUR 35 billion Climate and Transition Fund will be directed to building infrastructure for power, heat, and hydrogen, including new nuclear plants.

The Petroleum Licensing (Applications) Regulations 2015
The 1998 Petroleum Act empowers the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) to grant licenses for the exploration and development of England’s oil and gas resources. Portugal Green Growth Commitment 2030
In 2015 the Portuguese Government adopted the Green Growth Commitment (GGC). This strategy grew out of the Coalition for Green Growth launched in 2014. The GGC encompassed 16 sectors, with over 100 initiatives and 14 targets for 2020 and 2030.
