The Program is the result of interactions between the industrial sector and the Federal Government and aims to insert the culture of energy efficiency in a structured way in the Brazilian energy intensive industry. In this innovative proposal, a high level technical and cultural consulting service is offered to the industrial plant. The industry participates with at least 60% of the costs (as PROCEL will finance up to 40% of each project) and the work is only implemented if the industrial leadership is committed to assure optimal energy management practices for a minimum of 24 months, upon regular technical monitoring.

Twenty-four major industries are expected to join the third cycle of the Alliance Program in the coming months. The project, conceived by the National Confederation of Industries (CNI), in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Large Industrial Energy Consumers and Free Consumers (ABRACE), Ministry of Mines and Energy, Eletrobras - through the National Program for Conservation of Electric Energy (Procel) - and the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG).

For this phase, R $ 10 million will initially be invested in the preparation and execution of projects to mitigate the consumption of electricity. The amount will be partially funded by Procel, through the Resource Application Plan (PAR 2018/2019).
