The concept of the development of electricity generation from small renewable energy sources in SR brings in the first phase coherent approach the legislative and financial support for the development of small sources of electricity and heat, which are intended mainly to cover their own household consumption, without compromising the stability distribution system and the effect of financial savings for operators of small resources and for distribution companies.

At this stage, will be considered as suitable sources for households, i. e. photovoltaic panels and small wind turbines, solar thermal collectors, heat pumps and biomass boilers and legislative instruments are particularly aimed at simplifying the connecting sources of electricity as heat sources are not legally restricted and their installation is easily possible in the current system settings.
