Expansion of the Save Energy Now Campaign

Last updated: 5 November 2017
Save Energy Now is a national initiative to drive a 25% reduction in industrial energy intensity in 10 years. Efforts to support and promote the initiative include: Offering no-cost "Save Energy Now" energy assessments; utilization of the programmes software tools, publications, trainings, and efficiency implementation resources. These aim to reduce energy use while increasing profits and competitiveness, and forming partnerships with states, utilities, and other organizations to offer enhanced technical resources to industry, along with financial resources to support outreach to industry. Save Energy Now LEADERS is a voluntary partnership programme in which U.S. companies sign a voluntary pledge to reduce their facilities energy intensity by 25% in 10 years. The Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) helps LEADER companies achieve their energy-reduction targets by giving LEADER companies priority access to energy assessments and technical and other resources including links to financial opportunities. Save Energy Now also extends its activities to the state and utility level. In 2007, the programme awarded USD 950,000 to State Energy Offices in 19 states, or about USD 50,000 per state. This money was intended to be used to pay subcontractors to perform energy audits at industrial facilities. Through ITPs state and utility partnerships ITP offers its partners both financial and technical support for improving industrial energy efficiency in each of the 50 states; as well as helps states and utilities develop and implement industrial-efficiency programmes.
