DOE funding in data science and computation tools
The US Department of Energy (DOE) announced two funding opportunities for a total of USD 34.5 million to support researchers using data science and computation-based methods to tackle basic science challenges, advance clean energy technologies, improve energy efficiency, and predict extreme weather and climate patterns.
The DOE's Office of Basic Energy Sciencies (BES) will award up to USD 21 million over three years for research applying data science methods, while the DOE's Office for Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR) will award an additional USD 13.5 million over three years for computer-based models and networking infrastructure.
