National Budget 2021- R&D projects for a fusion DEMO reactor

As a part of the third supplementary budget to the 2021 national budget, the Japanese government has decided to accelerate the production and maintenance of JT-60SA, which facilitates plasma heating experiment operation for fusion DEMO reactor development.

 

The objectives are to:  

• Accelerate research and development for fusion prototype reactors
• Improve the technological base of companies related to cutting-edge fusion-related equipment and revitalize the industrial base including SMEs
