Energy-related Products Act (EVPG):Implementing measure for electrical appliances in the TRS-sector
…During the recast of the Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC), its scope was extended to all energy-relevant products. The EU Ecodesign Directive (2005/32/EC) was transposed into German law in 2008. The Energy-using Products Act (EBPG) was replaced in 2011 through the Energy-related Products Act (EVPG). The Energy-related Products Act (EVPG) contains the national law framework for the enforcement of product-specific implementing ecodesign measures laid down by the European Commission. The act also contains provisions on market surveillance in Germany. Implementing measures in force for energy-using and energy-related equipment in the TRS…

National Energy Agency (dena)
The German Energy Agency (Deutsche Energie Agentur -- dena) was established by the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology in September 2000 to implement the measures in the Climate Protection Programme. Dena is not a subordinate agency of a ministry, rather, was set up as a GmbH, a private company. The stakeholders are presently the Federal Republic of Germany (50%), the KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) = the reconstruction bank (26%), the Deutsche Bank AG (8%), the DZ Bank AG (8%) and the Allianz SE (8%). Dena works on projects, programmes and campaigns that promote energy efficiency and environment-friendly transformation of…

Promotion of Energy Efficient Electronic Products, The Group for Energy Efficient Appliances (GEEA)
The German Energy Agency (dena) and Gemeinschaft Energielabel Deutschland (GED) participate in the Group for Energy Efficient Appliances (GEEA), a forum of representatives from European national energy agencies and government departments working with industry on voluntary information activities in the field of energy efficient home electronics, office equipment and IT-equipment. GEEAs goal is to contribute to the establishment of a uniform European-wide scheme on voluntary informative activities. In close cooperation with the electronics industry, GEEA develops (and revises regularly) technical definitions and testing methods for the purpose of identifying and promoting high efficiency electronics products. Products meeting the…

Breakthrough Agenda Report 2025 Cement and concrete
State of the transition Emissions Total CO2 emissions are higher today than in 2015. Reductions in recent years have come from declines in global production, while direct CO2 emissions intensity remains unchanged. Both need to fall in the coming years to get on track for net zero by 2050, with contributions from improved material efficiency, greater use of alternative fuels and supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), and CCS. Cost Production costs for early commercial plants for near-zero emissions cement using CCS are estimated to be 75-150% higher than today’s conventional plants, varying by region. This cost premium will…

China’s Official Energy Finance in Emerging and Developing Economies Trends in China’s Outbound Energy Finance
This section examines the major shifts in China’s outbound energy finance over the past decade, with a particular focus on developments since 2022. Drawing on publicly available project information and systematically compiled datasets, the analysis highlights structural changes in the scale, composition and institutional drivers of official financing, with aggregate figures presented up to 2024. Together, these trends reveal how China’s role as an energy financier is evolving – from a gradual decline of traditional policy-bank lending to the rise of more commercial-oriented official providers – and what this means for investment patterns across EMDE. Overall financing trends…

Southeast Asia Energy Outlook 2024 Executive summary
Southeast Asia is a very dynamic region and a driving force behind global energy trends, with a projected rise in energy demand over the coming decades second only to India. It has accounted for 11% of global energy demand growth since 2010 but is projected to contribute more than 25% of the growth over the period to 2035 in the Stated Policies Scenario (STEPS), which indicates the direction of travel for the energy sector based on today’s policies. This increase in demand is underpinned by strong economic expansion, population growth, and Southeast Asia’s position as a global manufacturing…
