Requirements for Conformity Assessment of Petrol and Diesel Fuel
The regulations determine the essential requirements and compliance specifications for gasoline and diesel fuel in Latvia. The regulations are regularly updated: since 2019, diesel fuel is allowed to be sold only if biofuel is not less than 6.5% of the volume, while gasoline blending mandate requires at least 9.5% of biofuel mixed. The transport energy law (2026) terminates, until the end of 2029, the continuation of current biofuels blending obligation: 7% (6,5 volume %) blend for diesel and 10% (9,5 volume %) blend for petrol.

Reduction in tax on petrol / diesel
The Government of Croatia further reduced excise duties on petroleum products - on gasoline by an additional 40 lipa per liter and on diesel by an additional 20 lipa. Following this, Croatia has reduced excise duties from HRK 3.86 to HRK 3.06 per liter of gasoline fuel, and from HRK 3.06 to HRK 2.66 per liter of diesel fuel as of June 2022.
