Diesel trains replacement with hydrogen trains
EUR 300 million (USD 325 million) to replace diesel trains with hydrogen ones across six regions. EUR 24 million (USD 26 million) will be used for the trains and EUR 276 million (USD 299 million) for the production, storage and fuelling of renewable hydrogen. Projects should be completed by June 2026.

A temporary EUR 0.175/litre reduction of excise duty on diesel and petrol from 16 March to 30 September 2022, which will not apply as soon as the price at the pump drops to and/or below EUR 1.70/litre.To be revisited Mid-June 22. Cost appraisal based on official daily appraisal ( EUR 2 M/d for diesel, EUR 1.26 M/d for petrol) until mid-June.

The Diesel and Alternative Fuels Grants Scheme (DAFGS) was intended to provide assistance to regional areas to reduce the cost of diesel and certain other fuels used in transporting goods and passengers, and to extend the Diesel Fuel Rebate Scheme (DFRS) to additional activities and other specified fuels. Red Diesel Replacement Programme
The Red Diesel Replacement (RDR) programme funded by the UK government provides innovation funding for the development and demonstration of low carbon fuel and system alternatives to red diesel for the construction, and mining and quarrying sectors to support the decarbonisation of these sectors, which have the entitlement to use red diesel and rebated fuels revoked as of April 2022.The RDR is part of the GBP 1 billion Net Zero Innovation portfolio and provides grants in 2 phases.
