General Environmental Law (Ley General Ambiental) - Law 99
The law 99 of 1993 establishes the creation of the Ministry of Environment of Colombia. The Ministry has the objective to promote the substitution of non-renewable natural resources for the development of non-polluting and non-degrading energy generation technologies.
The law also establishes the requirement for environmetnal licenses (authorization granted by the competent environmental authority for the execution of a project, work or activity that may affect the environment).

New projects increase the capacity of the project pipeline Forthcoming export-oriented coal projects in our database have a total capacity of 493 Mtpa at the time of writing, 63 Mtpa higher than in our previous report. This increase in the project pipeline is due to improved research on Indonesia rather than more projects actually being developed. This report classifies projects as either more advanced or less advanced based on whether they have received the necessary approvals and permits in their respective countries.
