Scaling Up Transition Finance Sectoral insights
…unlock high-impact projects that lower emissions and avoid or mitigate other impacts, guided by practical KPIs.Natural gas: Natural gas is set to remain a part of the global energy mix for many decades but the applicability of transition finance to gas varies by country and sector and over time. Priority should be placed on front-loading methane abatement, reducing emissions from liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction providing infrastructure for low-emissions gases and helping, alongside other technology options, plants to provide flexibility for electricity systems, under transparent, time-bound plans that align with national energy and climate strategies.

Sustainable Transport for Georgia: A Roadmap Sustainable transport roadmap
…mobility and job benefits while aligning Georgia with Paris Agreement commitments. Policy makers are working with corporate partners and supporting priorities set out in earlier plans, as shown by already completed or underway in the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) and the 2024-2025 Climate Action Plan. Some prospects, such as partnering with global firms to build domestic low-emissions technology capacity, have not yet been realised, but should be considered.Georgia’s strong renewable electricity base, strategic location as a link between Asia and Europe, and skilled workforce create advantages for developing electric battery and vehicle value chains…

Energy savings
Multiple benefits of Energy Efficiency 2025 Energy efficiency provides multiple benefits. This page explores energy savings. Why is energy efficiency important for energy savings? Energy efficiency measures reduce the amount of energy required to fuel and grow our economies. In economies where energy demand is set to grow significantly, efficiency also helps improve people’s lives by increasing access to additional energy services. Key facts In the last two decades, efficiency measures have generated over 27 EJ of energy savings in IEA countries alone, equivalent to 20% of total energy demand. The industry (including manufacturing) and services (including commercial buildings) sectors…

Electricity 2026 Flexibility
…rising rapidly in many regions and end-use sectors such as heating and transport becoming progressively more electrified, demand flexibility has become an essential component for power systems. In this evolving energy landscape, demand response (DR) programmes are becoming an increasingly important flexibility tool, enabling households and businesses to shift or shed their electricity use in response to grid or market signals. In exchange, DR plans offer financial incentives, typically through contractual arrangements or participation in programmes with utilities, aggregators or system operators, or by direct participation in power markets in the case of large industrial consumers. For end-users…

Global Hydrogen Review 2025 Policies
Highlights Announced public funding for low-emissions hydrogen decreased by nearly two-thirds compared to the Global Hydrogen Review 2024 (GHR-24), to a cumulative USD 38 billion, but a larger share of funds is now making its way to specific projects. Several programmes in the European Union, India, Japan and United Kingdom have progressed to the second phase or beyond, with new calls building on learning from the first phase.Almost 90% of the public funding comes from advanced economies; other policy instruments like land allocation, tax incentives and reduced administrative procedures remain more common among emerging markets. The supply side still receives…

Electricity Market Design
Building on strengths, addressing gaps Electricity markets play a central role in balancing supply and demand, guiding operational decisions and shaping investment outcomes. As systems change with higher shares of variable generation, greater decentralisation and evolving patterns of electricity use, the ability of market designs to deliver secure and affordable electricity has never been more critical. If market arrangements do not keep pace with these developments, the functioning of electricity systems could become more uncertain and more costly. This report provides a cross-regional assessment of how wholesale electricity markets and their complementary policy mechanisms are performing today. We find…

Morocco
The government has stepped up its role in international action on climate change, ratifying the Paris Agreement, setting a new national climate policy and hosting the United Nations Conference of Parties (COP22) summit in Marrakesh in 2016.
The development of renewables is helping to improve energy security as well as deliver on Morocco’s clean energy and climate change commitments. Morocco is making strong progress towards affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 7). The government has achieved almost full access to electricity for its rural population, and it is developing…- Overview

Multiple Benefits of Energy Efficiency for Business Turning the opportunity into reality
Across sectors, the evidence consistently shows that the value of energy efficiency extends far beyond energy savings, often matching or even exceeding them.A key challenge is that much of this value is not systematically captured in investment decisions. Business cases are often built on energy savings alone, overlooking gains in productivity, resource efficiency, product quality, brand reputation and workforce health. Reflecting these wider benefits can significantly strengthen investment cases and improve how efficiency projects compete for capital. This report draws on available evidence to highlight these broader benefits and why they matter in practice. The steps below show how…
