Ramping up Heat Pumps in Moldova: A Roadmap
Buildings account for more than half of Moldova’s final energy consumption, with three-quarters of that used for space and water heating. At the same time, Moldova lacks domestic hydrocarbon resources and imports more than 80% of its primary energy. Moroccan Offer
Morocco offers tax and financial incentives for large-scale hydrogen projects, including up to 30% investment support and shared infrastructure. In 2024, 300,000 ha were opened for development, attracting nearly 40 applicants. The first award went to a European consortium for a 200 ktpa renewable ammonia project. In 2025, six projects were selected with a combined investment of USD 32.7 billion, involving global developers and targeting ammonia, synthetic fuels, and low-emissions steel.

IRESEN Infrastructure -- Network of Green Technology Research and Innovation Platforms and international collaboration
Morocco’s renewable energy innovation institute, IRESEN operates the First Network of Research and Innovation Platforms in Green Technologies in Africa (including infrastructure for smart buildings, solar PV, hydrogen, agro energy and water energy innovation) and creates bank accounts for recipients to manage risks related to transferring money to young companies. Morocco also partnered with Côte d'Ivoire on a semi-tropical test centre for renewable energy.
