                Heating aid system

The Latvian government has approved a heating aid program to help households cope with rising energy costs. The aid covers various heating methods, including electricity, gas, central heating, wood pellets, briquettes, and firewood. For electricity, the state compensates 50% of the price above EUR 0.160/kWh, up to EUR 0.100/kWh. Gas users receive 50% compensation for price increases, and central heating users get a 50% reduction in service charges above a certain threshold. The program also provides compensation for wood pellets, briquettes, and firewood if costs exceed specified limits.

                Grants for Residential Heating Conversion

Between 2006 and 2010, owners of residential properties and related premises could receive a grant covering up to 30% of the cost of materials and labour up to a maximum per household for conversion from direct electric heating to systems using district heating, biofuels or a geothermal/ground/lake heat pump.If a solar heating system was installed at the same time, the owner could receive a subsidy according to the amount of heat produced. In general, the subsidy level was SEK 2.50/kWh/year of energy produced. The subsidy was limited to a maximum of SEK 7500 in…

                Heating development scheme

The Hungarian government is launching a USD 245 million (96 billion HUF) district heating development scheme within the Jedlik Ányos Program to modernize systems serving 700,000 households by replacing natural gas with renewables like geothermal energy and biomass. The initiative provides USD 140 million (51 billion HUF) for green heat production and USD 137 million (45 billion) HUF for infrastructure to reduce heat loss, with tenders expected to open in spring 2026.
