Heating development scheme

The Hungarian government is launching a USD 245 million (96 billion HUF) district heating development scheme within the Jedlik Ányos Program to modernize systems serving 700,000 households by replacing natural gas with renewables like geothermal energy and biomass. The initiative provides USD 140 million (51 billion HUF) for green heat production and USD 137 million (45 billion) HUF for infrastructure to reduce heat loss, with tenders expected to open in spring 2026.
