By mid-century, more than 70% of Algeria’s gas-fired power plants are projected to face at least 40 days with a maximum temperature above 35 °C or more, in all global warming scenarios assessed. High temperatures decrease the nameplate capacity of gas-fired power plants and reduce the carrying capacity of the electrical grid.
