Fatih Birol
Executive Director. As Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Dr Fatih Birol (@fbirol) has positioned the IEA at the forefront of global efforts to advance a secure, affordable and sustainable energy system. Since taking office in 2015, he has modernised the Agency by broadening its energy security mandate beyond oil to include electricity, natural gas, renewables and critical minerals, strengthened the Agency's global leadership in clean energy transitions and expanded IEA membership to include major emerging countries. As a result, the IEA’s share of global energy demand coverage has increased from 40% to over 80%. Christophe McGlade
Senior Counselor and Head of Energy Supply Unit. Christophe McGlade is the Head of the Energy Supply Unit and leads the energy supply and climate analysis for the World Energy Outlook series. He was a lead author for the recent IEA special reports on Net Zero by 2050: A roadmap for the global energy sector; Sustainable Recoveries; and the oil and gas industry in energy transitions.

Peter Zeniewski
Senior Energy Analyst. Dr. Peter Zeniewski is a Senior Energy Analyst at the IEA. His main area of focus is the outlook for natural gas and LNG – covering long-term assessments of supply, demand, trade, investment and pricing. He has also led projects on energy affordability, biogases, India’s energy outlook, and emissions from oil and gas supply. Prior to joining the IEA, Peter was a Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Edinburgh and held positions at the European Commission and Wood Mackenzie. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Oxford.

George Kamiya
Former Energy Policy Analyst. George Kamiya leads the IEA’s analysis on the energy and climate impacts of digitalisation and works on modelling and policy aspects of other emerging topics, including critical minerals, cybersecurity, and new mobility services. He contributes to several IEA flagship reports including the World Energy Outlook, World Energy Investment, and Tracking Clean Energy Progress.

Tom Howes
Former Head of Energy and Environment Division. Tom Howes is the head of the Energy and Environment Division at the International Energy Agency (IEA). His work involves leading the division analysing carbon pricing and other energy and climate policies, promoting best practice with IEA countries, COP26 and UN and bringing all the IEA’s energy transition expertise and analysis on projections, technologies and policies to the support of successful COP outcomes.

Dan Dorner
Head of the Strategic Initiatives Office. Dan Dorner took up his duties as Head of the Strategic Initiatives Office at the International Energy Agency in December 2022. Previously, he was Head of Secretariat for the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), a global forum tasked with accelerating clean energy transitions. Mr Dorner’s involvement with the IEA goes back more than a decade, having worked as a lead author for the Agency’s flagship World Energy Outlook report and serving as the Executive Director’s Sherpa to the United Nations. Over the years, he has also held a variety of positions in the British government, serving as the UK’s Head of International Energy and as a senior adviser and analyst at the Treasury Department.
