Ethanol Production Subsidies/Tax Reductions
Since 2002, bioethanol producers in China have benefitted from subsidies, as well as tax reductions or exemptions of VAT or import duties. These reductions and deductions have totalled approximately CNY 190 million, and the Ministry of Finance has provided CNY 2 billion in subsidies to cover losses.The subsidy in 2006 was CNY 1373 per MT of fuel ethanol produced. Starting in 2002, most fuel ethanol produced was grain-based. NEA’s initiative to create new energy demonstration cities
National Energy Administration took an initiative to create new energy demonstration cities across China with larger use of renewable energy sources through establishment of industrial parks and energy demonstration parks.
NEA received and review 81 applications from cities on new energy demonstration development plans, for example Beijing's Changping district. -

Energy Conservation in Buildings
Within its 11th Five-Year Period, China plans to reduce residential and public buildings energy consumption by 50%, saving 50 million tons of standard coal. The federal plan for energy conservation in buildings formally mandates: - the quick technical reform of heat-supply systems nation-wide; - renewed efforts to promoting building energy efficiency technology and related products; and - renovation of existing buildings in the nations cold northern regions, with particular focus on hotels.

12th Five Year Plan for National Strategic Emerging Industries
In July 2012 the 12th Five Year Plan for National Strategic Emerging Industries for China has been announced by the State Council.
