Garantie de traçabilité - guarantee of traceability
Article L821-2 of the French Energy Code specifies that renewable or low-carbon hydrogen, if not mixed with other types of hydrogen or gases from production to consumption, and if its guarantee is transferred with the hydrogen, is certified with a "guarantee of traceability" to ensure its physical tracking. The goal is to ensure the integrity and traceability of hydrogen, supporting France's broader objectives of increasing renewable and low-carbon hydrogen production to meet decarbonization targets.

Energy code - Hydrogen
The French Energy Code defines hydrogen as a gas composed of dihydrogen molecules produced industrially. It distinguishes between renewable hydrogen, produced via electrolysis using renewable energy, and low-carbon hydrogen, which meets specific emission thresholds but doesn’t fully qualify as renewable. Carbon-based hydrogen, not meeting these criteria, is excluded from decarbonization goals. The code aims to promote hydrogen production with minimal carbon emissions supporting France's broader environmental objectives.

…of them must use bio-based or low-carbon materials from 2030 onwards. The law also stipulates that by 2026, 100% of contracts must incorporate environmental considerations, and a life cycle cost calculation tool will be made available to buyers
In the construction sector, France has set targets for the embedded carbon footprint of the whole construction (so-called ""RE 202049""). The regulation sets maximum emission thresholds, reduced over time and expressed in kg of CO₂ per square metre per year, over a 50-year building lifetime. By targeting the total embedded emissions in construction materials over the entire life… -

Incentive tax on the use of renewable energy in transport
Since 2022, the renewable portion of electricity consumed for charging electric vehicles on publicly accessible infrastructure can be used by operators as part of the targets set by the incentive mechanism for the use of renewable energy in transport. This mechanism requires conventional fuel distributors to incorporate an increasing renewable portion of the energy supplied to the transport sector in France and provides support for the operation of charging networks.

…of our economy, ensure the continuity of public services. This plan is intended to be revised every 5 years according to the reality of the warming trajectory and the evolution of knowledge. The reference warming trajectory for adaptation to climate change so far anticipates an increase in the average temperature in mainland France of 4°C by the end of the century. With regard to vitally important operators (OIVs), the transposition into French law of Directive (EU) 2022/2557 on the resilience of critical entities will make it possible to integrate these challenges into entity planning through the revision of national security directives.
