Action Plan for Renewable Energy Sources

This programme aimed to increase the market competitiveness of renewable energy sources as part of the National Climate Strategy of 2001. The Finnish Ministry of Trade and Industry issued in November 1999 a comprehensive programme to increase the use of renewable energy by 50% compared to 1995 levels and 30% to 2001 levels by 2010. Grants for renewable energy use account for 200 million Finnish marks (€33 million) and subsidies in energy taxation reach a total of 300 million marks (€50 million) annually. The cornerstone of the programme is to enhance use of biomass, which accounts for 90% of the…

The policy aims to: a. To accelerate the exploration, development, utilization and commercialization of ocean, solar, and wind (OSW) energy resources which are indigenous, renewable, environment-friendly and of such abundance that can provide the Philippines self-sufficiency in energy and possibly surpluses for export in the future despite high energy demand due to rapid economic growth; b. To enable and enhance private sector participation in the exploration, development, utilization and commercialization of OSW energy resources; c. To ensure the proper management of OSW energy resources, consistent with the countrys goals of energy self-sufficiency, affordability, and sustainable development. Executive…

…the ILO Just Transition Guidelines at the 111th International Labour Conference in 2023. The IEA Clean Energy Labour Council presents this paper in order to highlight the importance of a strong labour dimension in clean energy transitions, and to ensure that the transitions are fair, inclusive, and people-centred. The IEA Clean Energy Labour Council shares these policy considerations with international policy makers as well as the G20 and COP30 Presidencies. Clean Energy Transitions: the role of energy workers Workers are at the heart of the energy system, with around 67.5 million people working in the sector in 2023 and an…

However, to account for these shifts, LNG producers and suppliers may need to adapt their medium-term strategies. The Gas 2025 medium-term report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) examines this coming transformation and its consequences, offering a comprehensive overview of potential supply, demand and trade trends in global natural gas markets for the coming years. It provides a thorough review of recent market developments ahead of the 2025-26 winter season in the Northern Hemisphere – and includes forecasts for how supply and demand could evolve to 2030.The report also includes the IEA’s…

…today is for power generation. On the other, the rapid expansion of renewable energy capacity – particularly in China, the world’s biggest coal consumer – has the potential to curb demand. At the same time, the coming wave of liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity, which is likely to bring more abundant supplies and lower prices to natural gas markets, could prompt some regions to favour gas over coal.Coal 2025 – the latest annual market report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) – explores the implications of these key developments and more. Drawing on the latest data, it analyses recent trends and…

                Natural Gas

…markets, which have been tight and volatile for several years, are set to undergo major changes by the end of this decade. The unfolding coming wave of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity is set to rebalance the global gas market, enhance energy supply security and improve the affordability of natural gas.
About 300 billion cubic metres (bcm) per year of LNG export capacity – a record – is set to be added by 2030, primarily supported by liquefaction capacity additions in the United States and Qatar. This expansion could translate to a net LNG supply increase of 250 bcm a year…

The plan includes measures to control fossil fuel consumption, increase non-fossil energy use, and implement energy-saving initiatives in industries such as steel, petrochemicals, and transportation. Targets include reducing energy consumption per unit of GDP by 2.5% and carbon emissions per unit of GDP by 3.9% in 2024, increasing the share of non-fossil energy consumption to 18.9% in 2024 and 20% in 2025, and achieving energy savings equivalent to 50 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon emissions by 130 million…
