Prospects for Natural Gas Certification
This report offers an overview of the role of certification in natural gas supply chains, provides a broad mapping of existing initiatives, highlights selected regulatory and market developments, identifies areas where improvements may be needed, and presents recommendations to support the development of credible certification frameworks.Certified natural gas refers to gas whose environmental and social attributes – such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions performance, water use, local community impacts and worker safety – have been independently verified against defined criteria or benchmarks. In 2024, around 7.5% of global natural gas production was certified, with volumes primarily originating from North America…

Energy Security
The IEA has been at the heart of international energy security for 50 years – working to avoid, mitigate and manage energy disruptions and crises. While the Agency’s mandate initially centred on oil security, its work has since broadened to include the security of natural gas, electricity and clean energy supply chains.Threats to energy systems are constantly evolving. The IEA continually monitors and analyses these threats, including geopolitical risks, cyberattacks on energy infrastructure, supply chain disruptions and extreme weather events. On 24 and 25 April, 2025, the IEA convened an International Summit on the Future of Energy Security, hosted by the…

National Climate Resilience Assessment for Mozambique
Mozambique’s energy system has experienced significant disruptions due to extreme weather events, notably tropical storms and cyclones. With climate change, storms are projected to intensify, as are the risks of seasonal droughts and floods, posing a threat to the reliable operation of hydropower generation and the secure operation of the country’s coal mines. Mozambique’s plans to diversify its energy supply are an important step to enhance energy security and could be complemented by targeted measures to make its electricity system more resilient to natural hazards. Storms and tropical cyclones present the most regular extreme weather event faced…

Incentive Tax on Fleet Greening
To promote the decarbonization of vehicle fleets, France has implemented a green fleet tax (Taxe Incitative pour le Verdissement des Flottes), updated under the PLF 2025. This tax targets companies with large fleets, incentivizing the replacement of polluting vehicles by zero- and low-emission alternatives. The tax imposes higher rates on fleets that do not meet progressive environmental performance thresholds, based on CO₂ emissions and vehicle types. The evolving framework encourages companies to integrate more electric and hybrid vehicles to reduce their tax liability, supporting national climate goals.

Property tax exemption
In order to support the energy efficient and low-carbon retrofitting of houses in France, the French government introduced a 50% to 100% property tax exemption for housing energy work in some cities (subnational entites being final decision makers) for three years. Eligible works include: - thermal insulation - renewable energy equipment and heat pumps - connection to district heating if the district network is fuelled by renewables or combined heat and power generation - heat regulation equipment Related spending in eligible categories of work should be greater than 10,000€ over the previous year, or greater than 15,000€ over the three…

CORRI-DOOR
The overall objective of the project was to foster Electric Vehicle (EV) deployment in France within a short timeframe. It developed an understanding of all technological, environmental and end user requirements to enable the viability of an interoperable fast charging network in France and in Europe. Thr project was successfully completed although there was a variance between the number of stations deployed as part of the pilot network of charging facilities by the end of the Action. 181 stations out of 200 were installed and 171 were in operation by mid-September 2016. A national network of interoperable fast charging…
