Gas Market Report, Q2-2025
…balance remaining fragile in an increasingly complex geopolitical context, responsible producers and consumers need to work together to reinforce efforts to ensure reliable gas supplies. This will be among the topics addressed at the international Summit on the Future of Energy Security, convened by the IEA, in partnership with the UK Government, on 24-25 April 2025. Beyond the growing complexity of gas supply security both in the short and long term, the decarbonisation of gas and the broader energy system will require the deployment and scaling up of low-emissions gases. Part of the IEA’s Low-Emissions Gases…

…lead on a country level. Petrochemical feedstock products will represent more than half of this year’s gains, compared with only a third in 2025 when transport fuels dominated growth.World oil supply plunged by 1.2 mb/d in January to 106.6 mb/d, as severe winter weather disrupted North American operations, while outages and export constraints curtailed Kazakh, Russian and Venezuelan flows. Following gains of nearly 3.1 mb/d in 2025, world oil output is now forecast to rise by 2.4 mb/d in 2026, to 108.6 mb/d, with growth roughly evenly split…

Belgium
Belgium’s energy policy is focused on transitioning to a low-carbon economy while ensuring energy security, lowering costs for consumers and increasing market competition. Belgium has made progress on these goals, notably as a global leader in offshore wind. The country is also seeing a rapid uptake of electric vehicles. However, Belgium remains reliant on fossil fuels and more aggressive policies are needed accelerate emissions reductions, especially for the industry sector.

Oil Market Report - April 2025
…time of writing, Brent futures were trading at around $65/bbl, after earlier hitting their lowest levels in more than four years to below $60/bbl. Buckle up After a period of relative calm, global oil markets were roiled by a barrage of trade tariff announcements in early April. Benchmark crude oil prices plunged to their lowest levels in four years on a sharp escalation in trade tensions and the prospect of higher supplies from some OPEC+ countries. Brent futures tumbled by more than $15/bbl, to below $60/bbl, but subsequently recovered to around $65/bbl after the implementat...

Türkiye
…has pursued a restructuring of its energy system with the aim of rationalising energy demand growth, lowering energy prices and slowing the pace of import growth.
These reforms have included measures targeted at modernisation, liberalisation and increased domestic production capacity. Notably, Türkiye has seen considerable diversification of its energy mix in the past decade. Renewable electricity generation has tripled in the past decade and the commissioning of Turkey’s first nuclear power facility will further diversify the country’s fuel mix. Still, fossil fuels continue to drive Türkiye’s economy, with a heavy dependency on imports, especially oil and gas.- Overview

…remain above the IEA average, which highlights the need to make energy efficiency the “first principle” of energy policy. Fossil fuels are still essential building blocks of the energy mix with coal as the single largest fuel for total energy supply and electricity generation. The country is committed to phase-out coal by 2033 and is putting in place a framework for an inclusive transition. Nuclear is the second largest electricity source and the government plans to build new nuclear units at existing sites. Nuclear and renewables are seen as central to ensure energy security and to meet climate commitments.

Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan’s government is continuously investing in oil and gas, to modernise and expand the electricity and heat sector by 2020. Moreover, the energy sector is almost fully subsidised, with citizens receiving free electricity, heat and gas up to a certain level of consumption, until 2030, but the government is taking steps to reduce subsidies to curb domestic demand and increase exports. Turkmenistan is part of the EU4Energy Programme, an initiative focused on evidence-based policymaking for the energy sector.

Gas 2025
Analysis and forecasts to 2030 Global gas markets are set to undergo major changes by the end of the decade, with the coming wave of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity set to profoundly transform market dynamics. The unprecedented scaling up of LNG supply is expected to improve gas supply security and make natural gas more affordable – including in emerging, price-sensitive import markets. However, to account for these shifts, LNG producers and suppliers may need to adapt their medium-term strategies. The Gas 2025 medium-term report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) examines this coming transformation and its…

Belarus
Energy policy in Belarus focuses on providing reliable energy while reducing import–dependence, particularly on natural gas from a single supplier. The government is contemplating attractive investment measures and fuel diversification to reduce natural gas consumption and include more coal and renewables into the country's energy mix, while developing local energy sources and introducing nuclear power.
Belarus has also prioritized improving energy efficiency in electricity and heat production and is phasing out subsidies for electricity, heat and gas, which is expected to make the energy sector more market-focused and investor-friendly. Belarus is part of the EU4Energy Programme…- Overview
