                Free Trade Agreement between China and Iceland

                The free trade agreement between China and Iceland entered into force in 2014. It provides for the reduction or elimination of import tariffs on most industrial and energy sector products, including : Electric motors, turbines and generators; Mechanical equipment including pumps, appliances, and other advanced machinery; Electric accumulators, transformers, capacitors, batteries; Motor vehicles; Mineral ore, slag and ash; Mineral fuels, oils and other products; Metals and their articles e.g. iron and steel; Semiconductors devices and photovoltaic cells Rule of origins apply. In order to qualify for the preferential tariff treatment, products need to be wholly sourced or produced in one of…

                U.S.-China Joint Glasgow Declaration on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s

                At COP26, the United States and China issued a joint declaration committing to cooperate on a variety of climate change issues, including developing regulatory frameworks and environmental standards to reduce greenhouse gases emissions, encouraging decarbonisation and electrification of end-use sectors, and fostering the circular economy. The Declaration specifically recognised the role that methane emissions play in climate change, and both countries agreed to increase action to reduce methane emissions in the 2020s.  Both parties announced their intention to do the following actions:Cooperate to enhance measurement of methane emissions, exchange information on policies, and foster joint research into methane…

                People's Republic of China-GB 21456-2014 Minimum allowable values of the energy efficiency and energy efficiency grades for household induction cookers-Electric cookers, Gas stoves - 2015

                This standard replaces GB 21456-2008 as the minimum energy performance standard for household induction cookers (note: does NOT apply to commercial induction cookers, power frequency induction cookers and concave cooker). It applies to induction cookers with one or more heating units with each unit's rated power ranges from 700W to 3500W.

                The main changes to the standard include:

                Increasing the power range of the applicable scope of induction cookers;
                Adding normative references;
                Modifying the energy efficiency limits for different tiers of products;
                Subdividing the energy efficiency grades of different-power induction cookers;
                Modifying the test method.

                The Report on the Implementation of China's Fiscal Policy in the First Half of 2021 issued by the Ministry of Finance contains the following objectives and orientations :1. In 2021, the subsidy standard for new energy vehicles will be reduced by 20% from the 2020 level.2. Optimize the renewable energy power generation subsidy policy, issue a renewable energy tariff additional subsidy with a budget of 89 billion CNY to support solar PV, wind power and other renewable energy power generation.3. From 2021, new centralized photovoltaic power plants, industrial and commercial distributed photovoltaic projects and onshore wind power…

                Clean Winter Heating Plan in Northern China (2017 - 2021)

                Target that clean heating rate should increase to 50% in the northern area by 2019 and 70% by 2021.  In the “2+26” key cities and districts, 90% of heating services should use clean energy sources by 2019 and 100% by 2021. At the same time, the Chinese government calls for large-scale renewable energy deployment in clean heating, building energy efficiency to improve, and renewable energy resources to contribute more to clean heating. The “2+26” cities refer to cities located along the pathway through which air pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region transmits. Beijing and Tianjin are…

                Coalbed Methane (Coal Mine Gas) Emission Standard (China)

                …utilization facilities should be built to utilize it. For gas that cannot be utilized, it should be destroyed.  Monitoring Requirements: The updated standard specifies that operators must install automatic monitoring equipment to monitor coalbed methane emissions, in line with China’s Specification for the Management of the Use of Coal Mine Safety Monitoring System and Testing Instruments. Operators must maintain monitoring records for a period of five years. The updated standard further provides that pumping stations must be equipped with sensors to prevent gas leakage. The implementation and enforcement of the revised standard falls on China’s Ministry of Ecolog...
