CCUS Innovation 2.0 programme
…and piloting mid-stage (TRL 3-5) CCUS innovation. Lot 2 Late Stage CCUS innovation for projects developing late-stage (TRL 6-8) CCUS technology, particularly demonstrating at intermediate (~100 tonnes CO2 per day) scale or greater at site. Lot 3 Next Generation Carbon Capture Technology feasibility study: This is for industrial, waste or power site owners to analyse Next Generation Carbon Capture Technologies currently at TRL 3-8 to understand the feasibility of deploying these technologies at one of their UK-based sites. The CCUS Innovation 2.0 competition is part of the £1 billion Net Zero Innovation Portfolio.

Climate Technology Centre and Network Technical Assistance
…Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) is hosted by the United Nations (UN) Environment Programme and the UN Industrial Development Organization. It provides technical assistance in response to requests from developing economies or nationally-selected focal points on specific climate technology sectors.
Examples of CCUS-focused CTCN projects include:
1) “Carbon capture and storage potential in Nigeria”. This project assessed regulatory gaps for CCUS in Nigeria and aimed to increase the institutional capacity for implementation of projects in the country.
2) “Substantial GHG emissions reduction in the cement industry by using waste heat recovery combined with mineral carbon capture and… -

UK Plan for Jobs - Direct Air Capture
As part of it's Plan for Jobs 2020, the UK government will provide £100 million of new funding for research and development in direct air capture (DAC) technologies. DAC captures CO2 emissions from the air, which is key for the decarbonization of hard to decarbonize sectors, such as industry and heavy transport.

Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage Cluster Sequencing Process - Track 1
UK has the target of selecting 4 CCUS clusters for development by 2030. In November 2021, two clusters were selected under Track-1: HyNet and East Coast. Phase-1 was the selection of the clusters, while Phase-2 was the application of specific projects within those clusters. The shortlist of projects (Phase 2) was published in August 2022 with the final selection in March 2023 (3 in the East Coast Cluster and 5 in the HyNet Cluster)
In October 2024, the government announced up to GBP 21.7 billion of funding over 25 years for the two Track-1 clusters… -

Investment Aid Scheme for the Capture of Biogenic Carbon Dioxide
Finland launched a €90 million investment aid scheme in 2026 to support industrial-scale capture of biogenic carbon dioxide. The programme allocates funding through a competitive bidding process, targeting projects with a minimum capture capacity of 15,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year. Individual projects can receive up to €30 million, covering up to 30% of eligible costs. Supported projects must begin carbon capture by 2030 and operate until at least 2035. The scheme aims to scale up carbon capture technologies and enable negative emissions through BECCS and CO₂ utilisation.

Carbon Sequestration Regional Partnerships
Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnerships (RCSPs) help develop the technology, infrastructure, and regulations to implement large-scale CO2 sequestration in different regions and geologic formations in the US. Local organizations and citizens contribute expertise, experience, and perspectives that represent the concerns and desires of a given region, resulting in the development and application of technologies suited to that region. Seven RCSPs represent regions encompassing 97% of coal-fired and industrial CO2 emissions

Accelerating Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Technologies (ACT)
In 2016 the UK joined a consortium of 9 European countries to co-fund collaborative innovation projects into carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) called Accelerating CCS Technologies (ACT).ACT is a European Research Area Network (ERA-NET) Cofund, a tool established by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme for research and innovation. ERA-NET Cofund enables European countries to join forces when it comes to funding RD&D and innovation on subjects of high European interest. Under the scheme, European countries have provided EUR 25.34 million to support collaborative projects that can accelerate the deployment…

Funding for CO2 storage terminals
In May 2026, Enova launched a new program for CO2 storage terminals. This program provides funding for investments in CO₂ receiving terminals. Its purpose is to reduce barriers to investments in infrastructure that are important for establishing well-functioning carbon management value chains. Receiving terminals will lower barriers in the value chain for small and medium-sized capture operators and contribute to more cost-effective logistics for CO₂ transport. The receiving terminals will enable capture operators to deliver their CO₂ by truck, for further aggregation and transport to storage.
