In the event that an operator has failed to meet gas capture goal, the operator is required to apply for permits to drill in addition to other penalties. The Order includes a list of ways operators could beneficially use the gas on-site (e.g., electric rather than diesel generators; local compression of the gas for use as transportation fuel or chemical feedstock). Budget 2021 - Production of biofuels

The government has commissioned the Swedish Energy Agency to investigate the need for additional instruments to promote the production of biofuels with new technology. In the Budget Bill for 2021, the government has proposed that the requirements in the reduction obligation be tightened. This means that fuel suppliers must reduce greenhouse gas emissions by mixing biofuels in petrol and diesel in greater quantities. The government will also introduce a reduction obligation for aviation fuel. This is one of the instruments decided on to increase the use of biofuels.

When a company sells heating oil, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas, coal, petrol or diesel, it will need one certificate for every tonne CO2 emitted by the products they sell. The fixed price will initially be EUR 10 per tonne CO2, and will rise to EUR 35 per tonne by 2025. This gives all stakeholders a reliable basis on which to plan. As of 2026, the market will set the price, within a fixed band…

Pilot projects have been carried out and hybridized systems consisting of combinations of solar, wind, diesel and LPG have shown success in electricity generation that could be implemented nationwide. Commercial use of renewable energy is presently limited to solar photovoltaic panels in navigation lights and telecommunication systems. Solar thermal is used in some tourist resorts for water heating and lighting.
