                Western Australia Renewable Hydrogen Fund

                The Western Australian Government established a $10 million Renewable Hydrogen Fund (Fund) over four financial years, commencing in 2019-20, to support the development of the hydrogen industry in Western Australia. Total funding is available as: - A sum of up $9 million for grant funding to support the development of feasibility studies or capital works projects; promote private sector investment and leverage third party funding in order to achieve objectives of the Western Australian Renewable Hydrogen Strategy.                 South Australia Hydrogen Action Plan

                Building upon the release of A Hydrogen Roadmap for South Australia in 2017, South Australia’s Hydrogen Action Plan has five action themes intended to achieve its objective of scaling-up renewable hydrogen production for export and domestic consumption: facilitate investments in hydrogen infrastructure, establish a world-class regulatory framework, deepen trade relationships and supply capabilities, foster innovation and workforce skills development and integrate hydrogen into the energy system.

                (Western Australia) A Global Battery and Critical Minerals Hub

                Published by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, the Battery and Critical Minerals Prospectus outlines how Western Australia (WA) is establishing itself as a destination for investment across the battery and critical minerals value chains. WA is already a leading supplier of battery and critical minerals. The state accounts for half of global lithium production and is a major exporter of nickel, cobalt, manganese and rare earths, which are essential to a range of clean energy technologies, including rechargeable batteries, electric vehicles and wind turbines.

                Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility Act and Investment Mandate

                The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) was established under the NAIF Act in 2016 to provide financial assistance to the States and Territories for the development of Northern Australia economic infrastructure. The NAIF Investment Mandate (most recently updated in 2021) guides the financial strategy of the Act. NAIF's jurisdiction includes the Northern Territory, parts of Queensland and Western Australia, as well as projects outside of the boundaries that produce significant benefits for the region. NAIF utilises a range of financing tools to assist the development of projects that meet the requirements of the Mandate, which include satisfying a public…

                (South Australia) Environment Protection Act 1993

                Establishes a general duty that a person must not undertake an activity that pollutes, or might pollute, the environment unless the person takes all reasonable and practicable measures to prevent or minimise any resulting environmental harm. Outlines that an activity that involves flaring (coal seam gas, oil, coal production) is subject to the policies and regulations of the Act.

                Outlines that the work and operation involved in gas fitting must meet certain safety standards in the AS/NZS 2739 guide.
