Energy balances for 156 countries and 35 regional aggregates The World Energy Balances online data service contains energy balances for 156 countries and 35 regional aggregates. The figures are expressed in thousand tonnes of oil equivalent (ktoe) and in terajoules (TJ). Conversion factors used to calculate energy balances and indicators (including GDP, population, industrial production index and ratios calculated with the energy data) are also provided. The database also includes transparent notes on methodologies and sources for country-level data. In general, data are available from 1971 (1960 for OECD countries) up to 2023 for all countries. The energy security case for tackling gas flaring and methane leaks dataset
Substantial gas resources currently are being produced that do not make it to market because they are lost to flaring and leaks across the oil and gas supply chain. Reducing flaring, venting and methane leaks would offer immediate relief to gas markets and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Natural Gas Information
Time series of annual gas supply balances, imports and exports for OECD and non-OECD countries. The service is updated twice a year: in April with complete data up to year-2 and in July with additional provisional supply data for the year-1. The Natural Gas Information data service contains time series of annual gas data for both OECD and non-OECD countries from 1960 to 2024. Senior Programme Manager, Energy Efficiency in Emerging Economies Programme. Melanie Slade has spent thirty years in energy efficiency policy development and implementation in many parts of the world. She started out working in the UK Government on industrial and appliance energy efficiency and has worked with many other governments to establish similar programmes, perhaps most notably, the Government of China since the 1990s. In 2007 Mel became the Chair of Australia and New Zealand’s Equipment Energy Efficiency programme and where she led the phase-out of inefficient lighting. Mel moved to the International Energy Agency in February 2014 to manage the Energy Efficiency in Emerging Economies Programme. Mel and her team work with policy makers in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa and Thailand to develop more effective energy efficiency policy, track its progress and assess its potential.
