Law on Energy Savings
1994 Law on Energy Savings adopted on 7 July 1994 sets up legal, economic, social and ecological grounds for energy saving for all enterprises, associations and organisations located in the territory of Ukraine and as well for its citizens. National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) through 2020
National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) is the document setting the targets of use of renewable energy sources until 2020, as well as the manner of their achievement. Among other things, its aim is to enhance investments into the field of renewable energy sources.

National energy efficiency goals for 2020
A relevant draft Government Order has been elaborated by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine in cooperation with international experts, specialists from the Energy Community Secretariat within the framework of implementation of Article 3 of Directive 2012/27/EU on energy efficiency. The overall approach of the Directive, namely the reduction in final energy consumption by 20% in 2020 relative to the baseline scenario, was used when setting the goals.

Law on Alternative Energy Sources
The 2003 Law on Alternative Energy Sources defines the legislative, economic, ecological and organisational framework for the use of renewable and non-traditional energy. While the law does not provide for specific ficial, economic and regulatory support, it provides official government support for renewable energy in Ukraine. In addition, a presidential decree of September 2003 announced measures to stimulate the production of fuel ethanol, biodiesel and biogas.

Green Tariff (Feed-in Tariff)
"The Green Tariff" policy is a feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme for electricity generated from renewable energy sources was introduced in Ukraine in 2009. Scheme will be open until 1st of January 2030. "The Law on Electrical Energy Industry" of 16th October 1997 created a legal framework for the "Green Tariff" scheme. VAT and Customs Duties Exemptions
Exemption from excise duties and VAT until the end of 2019 for the import of equipment for generating electricity form renewable energy is granted, provided that, similar goods are not manufactured in Ukraine. Tax relief was introduced with Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers "On importing onto the customs territory of Ukraine of energy-conserving materials, equipment and spare parts” on 14 May 2008.

Ukraine's Electricity Market Law (Law no 4493)
The Electricity Market Law of 2016 was adopted in June 2017 coming into full effect in July 2019. The Law aligns Ukraine’s national legislation with the European Union’s regulation embodied in the Third Energy Package on the European gas and electricity markets liberalizing country’s national electricity market.
