The energy security case for tackling gas flaring and methane leaks dataset
Substantial gas resources currently are being produced that do not make it to market because they are lost to flaring and leaks across the oil and gas supply chain. Reducing flaring, venting and methane leaks would offer immediate relief to gas markets and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Shares are shown for three indicators:Total Russian imports vs. domestic oil demandTotal Russian imports vs. total imports from all sourcesCrude oil, NGL and feedstocks imports from Russia vs. refinery intake.Data is monthly, in percentages, for the 24 last months.Monthly shares shown here may not correspond to the oil shares shown in the annual Russian fossil fuel reliance data because of data collection and methodological differences. Notably, this dataset includes aviation and marine bunkers and the biofuel fractions of biogasoline, biodiesel and ethanol, which are excluded in the annual data.

NEW (first release: June 2025) - Monthly, quarterly, and annual demand data for seven products in individual OECD and Non-OECD countries with aggregates for selected regions. Monthly, quarterly, and annual demand data for seven products in individual OECD and Non-OECD countries with aggregates for selected regions. The dataset starts in January 2005. Data are in thousand barrels per day and include 6-18 month forecasts.This new dataset combines OECD and non-OECD demand data into a single, harmonised dataset including more granularity for non-OECD countries (demand available by product and by month).
