Monthly Reliance on Russian Oil for OECD Countries
Share of oil from Russia in total imports, oil demand and refinery intake for OECD countries
About this dataset
This dataset is being released in an attempt to provide the most up-to-date data on the reliance of OECD countries on oil imports from Russia. Shares are shown for three indicators:
- Total Russian imports vs. domestic oil demand
- Total Russian imports vs. total imports from all sources
- Crude oil, NGL and feedstocks imports from Russia vs. refinery intake.
Data is monthly, in percentages, for the 24 last months.
Monthly shares shown here may not correspond to the oil shares shown in the annual Russian fossil fuel reliance data because of data collection and methodological differences. Notably, this dataset includes aviation and marine bunkers and the biofuel fractions of biogasoline, biodiesel and ethanol, which are excluded in the annual data.
Schedule

Documentation
This dataset is drawn from the Monthly Oil Data Service (MODS).
Oil
Global oil demand rebounded in 2021 from its Covid-induced historic decline and while demand is set to keep increasing in the immediate years, its longer-term outlook is uncertain because of challenges from alternative fuels and changing behaviour of drivers and commuters.
