Maritime Decarbonisation Strategy

The UK's Maritime Decarbonisation Strategy was published on 25 March 2025 and sets out the Government's plans for decarbonisation of the domestic maritime sector. It includes goals of zero emissions by 2050, a 30% reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and an 80% reduction by 2040 - compared to 2008 levels. 
 
 The Strategy set out a range of policies that will support meeting the goals including: 
 - Implementing fuel regulations;
 - Introducing emissions pricing;
 - Taking action on emissions at berth;
 - Addressing emissions from smaller vessels;
 - Improving energy efficiency.
