Tunisia subsidies for fossil fuels and electricity in 2024

On 2024, Tunisia's Ministry of Finance announced the 2024 budget report. The report included 7.086 billion Dinar as subsidies for fossil fuels and electrcity. The budget will be distributed between the Tunisian company for electricity and gas with 4.019 billion Dinar, and the Tunisian Society of Refining Industry with 3.067 billion Dinar. It was noted that budget will be used for the following points:

• Maintaining the electricity and gas charges.
• Initiatives for decreasing the consumption of fossil fuels.
• Measures to monitor the fossil fuel consumption in public sector.
• Initiatives and measures to promote renewable energy especially solar energy and wind energy.
• Incentivize the private sector to invest in electricity production projects especially renewable energy projects.
• Establishing an agency for monitory and governing the electricity sector.
