Cross Border Electricity Trading in Tajikistan: launch event
Background information
Increasing electricity exports to at least 10 terawatt-hours (TWh) annually by 2030 is a goal set out in Tajikistan’s National Development Strategy, to bring much needed revenue to the state-owned utility. There are several regional market models that Tajikistan, along with neighbouring countries, could adopt to optimise the use of common infrastructure and resources and to maximise the value from its surplus energy.
This workshop will aim to discuss challenges and opportunities of cross-border power trade from the view of Tajikistan. The event will also launch the IEA’s recent roadmap on Cross-Border Electricity Trading for Tajikistan, funded by the European Commissions through the EU4Energy programme.
