…Systems (SHS).
Development of Solar-Wind-Hydro-Diesel power hybrid system to meet electricity demand of livestock herdsmen’s households, villages, rural schools, hospitals, tourist camps, frontier posts, etc.
The SHS were subsidised through contributions from various bilateral donors over the course of its lifetime (2000-2012). More than 30000 subsidised SHS were sold to herder families by 2006. After the inclusion of the World Bank in 2006, 67000 more subsidised SHS were sold. The programme has also improved electricity distribution systems in 30 soums (districts), and installed hybrid systems to reduce the use of costly diesel in 15 soums… -

Biomass content of biodiesel exempted from excise tax
Malta opted for the former mode of promotion and the biomass content (i.e. the percentage element) in biodiesel was exempted from the payment of excise duty. This made biodiesel cheaper than petroleum diesel retailed in filling stations and therefore the fiscal incentive provided one of the driving forces for the biodiesel sales. In 2011 the policy for substitution obligation was adopted and the biomass content in biodiesel was no longer exempt.

Obligation for biofuel release for consumption
In Italy, in line with European directives, the obligation has been introduced for suppliers of petrol and diesel to release biofuels for consumption, in order to develop the supply chain and reduce emissions into the atmosphere from the transport sector. The obligation is based on a quota system defined and updated by the Ministerial Decree of 10 October 2014 and subsequent amendments and additions. The minimum annual quantity of biofuels that the obliged entities must release for consumption is calculated on the basis of the energy content of petrol and diesel released for consumption in the same year. Lastly, the…
