World Energy Outlook 2022 The global energy crisis
…The Europe-Russia energy relationship lies in tatters, calling into question the viability of decades of fossil fuel infrastructure and investment decisions built on this foundation. A profound reorientation of international energy trade is underway, bringing new market risks even as it addresses longstanding vulnerabilities. Many of the contours of this new world are not yet fully defined, but there is no going back to the way things were. Pledges to Progress 2025 Recommendations
The case for robust operational emissions reduction – backed by public disclosure to foster progress, transparency and accountability – has never been stronger. The increased regulatory and policy focus on reducing methane and flaring emissions from oil and gas production, the degree of cost-effectiveness in pursuing reductions, and the uptake among industry, investors and others suggest that all stakeholders are well aware of the opportunity for climate mitigation and operational efficiency. In many cases, large improvements in company scores could be achieved with better reporting and increased transparency, especially since companies are likely to be doing more than they are disclosing…

What Next for the Global Car Industry The importance of the growth in EV sales for the car industry
Highlights In 2024, more than one-fifth of all cars sold globally were electric. Policies remain key to growth in many regions, although falling prices make affordability an increasingly important driver. In China, two-thirds of battery electric cars sold in 2024 were cheaper than internal combustion engine (ICE) equivalents. In other major markets like Europe and North America, electric cars remain more expensive on average. But prices have been falling in many emerging economies on the back of affordable Chinese imports; in Southeast Asia, this helped push the share of electric car sales to 9% in 2024, almost double…

Global Energy Review 2026 Oil
…Overall, feedstock use of oil was flat across advanced economies.Transport demand was lower in Japan and Korea and marginally higher in the European Union. Rises in fuel use in advanced economies were largely restricted to aviation. Improving vehicle efficiencies, particularly due to new hybrid vehicles, and incremental electrification were sufficient to offset rising activity. This resulted in flat road fuel demand in advanced economies in 2025.Emerging market and developing economies accounted for nearly all of the increase in oil use in 2025, with their demand rising by 600 kb/d or 1.2%. More than half of this…
