EV Charging Infrastructure Target 2030
…France had a total of about 28,000 charging stations (1). Of this total, more than 10,000 were public charging spots (2).
In May 2018, the French government announced the target of reaching 50,000 charging spots by end 2020 and 100,000 by end 2022 (3).
By way of comparison, in 2019 France had just over 11,000 gas stations.

Participation in International Car-Free Day for Cities (In town without my car!) & European Mobility Week
Participating cities in the "In town without my car!" event (held each 22 September since 1998), present their urban centres in a different light for one day by restricting motorised traffic in certain areas, encouraging the use of sustainable modes of transport and raising awareness for the environmental impacts of citizens modal choice. There were 80 participating cities and towns in France in 2003. Many of the same cities also conduct events on sustainable mobility as part of the associated week-long European Mobility Week. There were 16 participating cities and towns in France in 2003.

Funding for Energy Audits
…improve energy efficiency. The Energy Efficiency and Environment Agency (ADEME) also put in place a complementary measure to advise those enterprises not eligible for FRAC.
Previously, mandatory energy audits, carried out by experts appointed by the Ministry of Industry, were required every three years from 1977 to 1997 for industrial facilities consuming more than 300 toe per year (20 000 sites in France). The degree of compliance in 1994 was only 40%, partly due to inadequate resources. Energy savings identified are about 3% of energy consumption with an average return of investment of four to five years. The regulation was… -

Tax Credit for Sustainable Development
…the Sustainable Development Tax Credit, encourages individuals to make energy efficiency improvements to their homes. It does so by supporting emerging technologies which are most effective in terms of sustainable development as well as increasing market-wide performance standards. This measure aims at wide dissemination of sustainable energy practices to help achieve France ambitious energy conservation, sustainability, and renewable resource goals. It is part of the strategy outlined in the Grenelle Environment Objectives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to ¼ their current level by 2050 as well as a 38% reduction of building energy consumption by 2020 and an increase…

Voluntary Agreements with Industry to Reduce GHG Emissions and Conserve Energy
…companies in July 2002 (first presented at the end of 2001). Voluntary agreements have been signed with six partners (branches or industries): aluminium (the Pechiney Group), cement industry, fat lime and magnesia lime manufacturers, the French steel federation, glass packaging industry, and the "3 Suisses-France" (a large mail order company). Negotiations are under way with the French Smelters Union. In other branches such as chemicals, paper and agro-food industries, discussions have taken place but no agreement has yet been reached. All gases considered by the Kyoto Protocol are included under the scheme. In order to reduce their emissions…

Implementation of EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD)
…the EU through cost effective measures; To promote the convergence of building standards towards those of Member States which already have ambitious levels. Measures include: Methodology for calculating the energy performance of buildings; Application of performance standards on new and existing buildings; Certification schemes for all buildings; Regular inspection and assessment of boilers/heating and cooling installations. In parallel, to complement implementation of the EPBD, France has created two building energy efficiency labels respectively "High Energy Performance" (HPE ou Haute Performance énergétique) and "Very High Energy Performance" (THPE ou Trés Haute Performance énergétique). A consumer education campaign to publicizes both.

Renewable Energy Feed-In Tariff: Biomass
…power generation, energy efficiency, and the renewable energy source used by the plant.
In 2010, France tendered 250 MW of biomass installed capacity, distributed between 32 Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants and another 200 MW for plants no smaller than 12 MW was closed in February 2011. France targets a total installed capacity of 2,300 MW by 2020.
As of May 30th 2016, biomass power plant will only be developed under a tender scheme and the aid will be granted in the form of a feed-in-premium (or contract for difference), instead of a feed-in-tariff. -
