Modern Slavery Act
The Modern Slavery Act was established in 2018 to require certain sectors to report and address the risks of modern slavery in their operations and supply chains. Entities covered by the Act are those based or operating in Australia that have an annual consolidated revenue of more than $100 million. Modern slavery statements will be prepared annually and submitted to the Minister; the Minister is responsible for preparing a statement on behalf of all non-corporate Commonwealth entities. Low Emissions Technology Statements
The first Low Emission Technology Statement (LETS), for 2020, is centred in identifying Australia’s big technology challenges and opportunities that will develop low-emission technologies.It includes a 1.9 billion AUD investment package in future technologies to lower emissions and improve the reliability of the energy supply, as well as 1.62 billion AUD for the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to invest and expand its focus and for the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) to back new technologies that will cut emissions in agriculture, manufacturing, industry and transport.

Geothermal Industry Development Framework
…working to accelerate the development of geothermal energy in Australia. The Framework is a comprehensive approach to industry development and incorporates a geothermal energy technology roadmap which was produced for the Council of Australian Governments (COAG). The vision presented for geothermal energy is "to make a substantial contribution to Australias long term energy supply and reduce national greenhouse gas emissions by developing a sustainable, safe, and secure, socially and environmentally responsible geothermal energy industry". The Geothermal Technology Roadmap, which was concurrently launched with the Framework, examines in detail the research and technology development needs of the geothermal industry in Australia.

Emerging Renewables Program
The Emerging Renewables Program (ERP) funded activities to support the development, demonstration and early stage deployment of renewable energy technologies with the potential to lower the cost, and thereby increase the supply, of renewable energy in Australia. The program was also open to activities that remove or reduce roadblocks to the delivery of ARENA’s strategic initiatives and activities to fill critical knowledge gaps within the industry. ERP has been superceded by the Advancing Renewables Programme and the Research and Development Programme and is closed to new applications.

Research and Development (R&D) Program
The Research and Development (R & D) Programme supports renewable energy technologies that will increase the commercial deployment of renewable energy technology in Australia. The first round of the R & D Program focused on Solar Excellence and 2014 awarded A$21.5 million in funding to 12 projects ranging from enhancing existing technologies to advancing emerging technologies in solar photovoltaics (PV), solar thermal and solar storage. The Advancing Renewables Program supports a broad range of development, demonstration and pre-commercial deployment projects that have the potential to lower the cost and increase the use of renewable energy technologies in Australia in the long term. The program aims to reduce the cost of renewable energy, increase the value delivered by renewable energy, improve the technology readiness and commercial readiness of renewable energy, reduce or remove the barriers to renewable energy uptake, and increase the skills, capacity and knowledge relevant to renewable energy.
