                Energy Earthshots Initiative

The initiative aims to tackle the most challenging technological barriers to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. It sets ambitious technical and cost goals for next-generation clean energy technologies and encompasses a diverse portfolio of technologies and pathways, all unified by the goal of pursuing economic growth through innovation, scientific advancements and job creation. It details key elements to assess progress, emphasizing collaboration, commercialization, and international partnerships and indentify several key working areas (long duration energy storage, carbon dioxide removal, floating offshore wind, ultra-low carbon fuels and products, affordable and equitable housing upgrades, competitive clean industrial heat, enhanced…

Energy Efficiency Program in Public Buildings - PROCEL EPP

This Programme aims at reducing electricity consumption in buildings at the federal, state, and municipal levels. Conservation is promoted by disseminating efficient technologies in areas including lighting and HVAC systems. Initially, various energy analyses are completed to identify areas where demand reduction is possible. These analyses are followed by small pilot projects which have potential for replication on a large scale. Supplementary activities include education programmes and outreach, training, and cross-sectoral partnerships. Goals of Procel EPP:Reduce energy consumptionTrain Public building managers to reduce demandImplement demonstration projects in public buildings and record, measure, verify and share the resultsTrain the…

Energy Conservation Building Code for residential buildings 2017 (DRAFT DUE TO BE FINALISED IN 2019)

The code aims at limiting heat gains/loss from building envelope and for ensuring adequate natural ventilation and day lighting.
To limit the heat gain/loss from the building envelope, the code specifies:
                • Maximum value of Residential Envelope Transmittance Value (RETV) for building envelope (except roof) applicable for four climate zones1, viz. Composite Climate, Hot dry
Climate, Warm-humid Climate and Temperate Climate.
                • Maximum value of thermal transmittance of building envelope (except roof) for Cold Climate zone (Uenvelope, cold)
                • Maximum value of thermal transmittance of roof for all climate zones

To ensure adequate natural ventilation, the code specifies

                Energy Efficiency Leader Scheme

The program aims to set up a long-term mechanism to incentivise leaders in energy efficiency, so called 'Top Runners', which can be products, industry stakeholders and public institutions.

To be part of the Top Runner programme, products, industry stakeholders and public institutions must exceed specific energy-efficiency benchmarks set by the China Energy Label. It is expected that the government will regularly update the categories of most energy-efficient end-use appliances, most energy-efficient firms in high energy intensive industries, and most energy-efficient public institutions. The implementation guidelines set out in greater detail selection criteria and process…

The Act introduced the notion that tariffs should be cost reflective, should ensure efficient and adequate supply, but should be fair, and should allow for explicit support of the poor. In this regard, the Act also established a Power Development Fund, with the aim of supporting development at the local level and the promotion of renewable energy…
