                Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC)

Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) is an initiative proposed by Japan in 2022 and launched by 11 countries (Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam) in 2023 to promote decarbonization in Asia. It provides a platform to support climate policy development, foster public-private partnerships, strengthen technological cooperation, and establish green industrial supply chains. Over 150 MOUs have been signed under the auspices of AZEC, including in relation to reduction of methane emissions from natural gas.

                Equipment Energy Efficiency Program (E3)

The Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) program aims to increase the energy efficiency of appliances and equipment used in Australia and New Zealand. This is achieved through the delivery of an energy efficiency standards and labelling programm. The Australian labelling programme is based on a star system. The E3 program is implemented through the Greenhouse and Minimum Standards (GEMS) Act 2012. New Zealand is a partner in the E3 Program under a bilateral agreement with Australia.

Joint Statement on Accelerating Methane Mitigation from the LNG Value Chain

The United States, Republic of Korea, Australia, the European Commission and Japan signed this statement on the margins of the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference in Tokyo, Japan. The signatory parties affirmed their support for an internationally aligned voluntary approach for the measurement, monitoring, reporting and verification of methane emissions data across the international fossil fuel supply chain. The parties expressed their strong support for accelerated methane reductions along the LNG value chain by both public and private stakeholders and affirmed their intention to encourage industry participation in international methane reduction initiatives such as the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2…

                Exploring for the Future Program

…Australia in collaboration with state and Northern Territory geological surveys, gathers new innovative high-resolution geoscience data and information about the potential mineral, energy and groundwater resources concealed beneath the surface in large areas of Australia. This program helps explorers target new mineralisation by imaging the deepest roots of mineral systems all the way through to the surface, and is employing many world-first techniques.  The 2020-2024 program is currently focused on eight interrelated projects, united in growing understanding of subsurface geology:Three deep-dive projects in potentially resource-rich corridors identified in the east and west of Australia…

                Critical Energy Minerals Roadmap

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation's Critical Energy Minerals Roadmap is a strategy that aims to unlock the economic potential of Australia's energy minerals by creating and demonstrating breakthrough technologies. The roadmap identifies ways to take advantage of Australia's potential and connect mining, manufacturing and energy sectors. Specifically, the roadmap suggests the adoption of more streamlined policy and regulatory frameworks together with new technical and economic regulations designed to facilitate the extraction and processing of energy minerals as well as to encourage the deployment of relevant technologies, such as the recycling of permanent magnets.
