…of wells (production, injection, observation), reservoir and well stimulation, logging, testing, and evaluation. Project developers - usually at final investment decision - declare criteria for failure, partial success and full success in terms of adequate production rates, well head temperatures and chemistry of produced fluids. Alternatively, project developers may receive an investment aid of up to 60% of the cost for prospecting activities. Subsequently, project developers may receive another investmen aid of up to 60% for those activities that prove a geothermal reservoir (exploration). For the prospecting and exploration phase, a project developer may chose between a geothermal guarantee or investment aids.

Industrial Competitiveness Promotion Programme/ Aids for energy efficiency in industry

The Industrial Competitiveness Promotion Programme was intended to stimulate corporate investments in order to foster the evolution of beneficiary companies towards new, more advanced production models that are both efficient and environmentally friendly, as well as towards the manufacture of products and the provision of services with greater added value. With this goal, this program has provided support to investment plans to improve currently functioning industrial facilities through changes and modifications with a high impact on their competitiveness. More specifically, the purpose of the support was to promote the evolution of beneficiary companies towards new, more advanced production models that…

Kälte-Klima-Richtlinie (vom 19.12.2018) The funding scheme is for investments in energy-efficient cooling and air conditioning systems which use non-halogenated refrigerant as well as for additional storage tanks for heat and cold. Small bonus funding is awarded, when the implementation of regenerative energy supply-systems (e.g. PV or solar heating) is done at the same time (without funding these systems themselves).

SDE (stimulering duurzame energie): Renewable energy and CHP production aid scheme

…In December the European Commission auhorised the aid scheme, to stimulate production of renewable energy and Combined Heat and Power. The extra available budget for the SDE is estimated at EUR 2,144 million. Unlike the MEP, the SDE is fully financed by direct government support. The regulation was published on 3 March 2008, and subsidy requests can be submitted as of 1 April 2008 from SenterNovem, the Ministry of Economic Affairs agency. Differences from the MEP are that projects are selected through tendering, and that the subsidy amounts will be corrected and vary depending on fossil fuel energy prices…

…as well as users, of energy efficiency technologies stand to gain market share at a pivotal time. While industry leaders recognise the competitiveness benefits of energy efficiency, they need help to overcome barriers to action. In an IEA survey of 1 000 firms around the world, around 80% of industry leaders report that efficiency is key to their competitiveness. However, respondents indicate that they face barriers to implementing more significant measures, including significant upfront costs and insufficient workforce capacity.A renewed policy approach can position energy efficiency as a pillar of industrial strategy. With an expanded focus on SMEs and…

This regulation establishes minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and mandatory energy labelling for air conditioners in Costa Rica. It applies mainly to room and split-type units up to about 18 kW cooling capacity. Air conditioners must meet minimum energy efficiency ratios (EER) specified in the regulation, be tested in accredited laboratories, and obtain certification before import, manufacture, or sale in the national market. Products must also display an official energy efficiency label indicating performance category. Equipment that does not comply with the efficiency thresholds or certification requirements cannot be commercialised in Costa Rica.
