Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 on Environmental Protection, Organisation and Management
Government Regulation 22/2021 regulates the implementation of environmental protection and management in Indonesia. In relation to emissions, the regulation specifies that environmental licence holders must deposit funds with a government-approved bank. If a business entity causes pollution and the site needs to be restored, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry can approve the use of the funds for environmental restoration (Article 477). Import Policies and Conditions
In 2023 and 2024, the Indonesian government updated its Import Policies and Regulations.This policy sets administrative requirements for importers, such as business legality, taxpayer status, and import permits. As known, Indonesia imports various supplies such as oil and other materials. This regulation aims to facilitate the import process from selling countries to Indonesia.The following new exemptions apply to import prohibitions, notably:non hazardous or toxic metal scrapsgoods imported into a Special Economic Zoneused non-lithium batteriesImport licensing applies. Re-opening of the Coal Export
On January 31 2022, the Indonesian Government through the Ministry of Trade issued a Regulation Number 40 of 2022 concerning Reopening of the Coal Ban. The government has release this information in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 52.pers/04/sji/2022. Previously, Indonesia had banned coal exports for a month to guarantee coal supplies to national power plants.
