IEA Guide to Reporting Energy Technology RD&D Budgets
…in alignment with the OECD Frascati Manual and clarifies the scope of public and private sector reporting. It also provides instructions for completing the IEA questionnaire, covering budgetary stages, metadata reporting, and common issues. The classification system spans nine major technology groups, including energy end uses, fossil fuels, renewables, nuclear, hydrogen, CO₂ capture, critical minerals, and cross-cutting technologies. This structure supports accurate data collection and policy analysis, enabling governments and stakeholders to track RD&D investments and inform strategic decisions. The manual serves as a reference tool to improve the quality and transparency of energy RD&D statistics globally.

Basic energy statistics for 156 countries and 35 regional aggregates The World Energy Statistics online data service contains key energy statistics for 156 countries and 35 regional aggregates. Data are provided in original units for the different types of coal, oil, natural gas, renewables and waste, as well as for electricity and heat. In general, data are available from 1971 (1960 for OECD countries) up to 2023 for all countries. For IEA member, accession, association and other selected countries, data are available up to 2024. IEA Energy Prices - Monthly Prices Excerpt This dataset is updated once a month and includes monthly end-user total prices for transport fuels in selected countries, based on the IEA Energy Prices database.The complete IEA Energy Prices database database provides end-user prices by sector (industry, household, transport, commercial, electricity generation) and 20 fuels and energy carriers, for 150 countries, with weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly data.
