Regulation (EU) 2017/1938 concerning measures to safeguard the security of gas supply
This regulation aims to safeguard an uninterrupted supply of gas throughout the European Union. It notably includes that the competent authority of each member state to ensure enough gas supply equivalent to: - Extreme temperatures during a 7-day peak period occurring with a statistical probability of once in 20 years; - Any period of 30 days of exceptionally high gas demand, occurring with a statistical probability of once in 20 years; - A period of 30 days in the case of disruption of the single largest gas infrastructure under average winter conditions.This regulation has been amended by Regulation 2022/1032, setting…

Ordinance on ensuring delivery capacities in the event of a serious shortage of natural gas
This Ordinance sets a minimum requirement of gas storage equivalent to at least 15% of the average Swiss annual consumption to the five regional gas network operators. The ordinance was last amended in 2024 to extend the obligation to 2026. It also specifies that the gas companies must ensure Switzerland is adequately supplied with natural gas from October to April.
