Building Sector ELECTRA: Subsidies for Energy Efficiency of Public Buildings
“ELECTRA” is a programme with a budget of EUR 640 million for the period 2020-2026, to improve the energy efficiency of the public buildings through interventions related to the typical use of each building and heating, cooling, ventilating, lighting etc. Buildings included in the “ELECTRA” Programme will be classified in energy efficiency level B after the interventions, in accordance with the current Building Energy Efficiency Regulation (CENAK). Mandatory Energy Audits
In compliance with Article 8 of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), Greece implemented in December 2016 a requirement for large industry to either conduct an energy audit every four years, or implement an energy or environmental management system. Small to medium-sized enterprises will also have access to quality energy audits due to these policies.

Energy Tax
The Energy tax was established by the National Plan on Suistainable Development from 1999. The tax was introduced in order to unify legislative framework in the energy sector to the measures outlined in the EU Directives 2003/55/EC and 2003/54/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council Concerning Common Rules for the Internal Market in Natural Gas and Electricity.

The Polish government implemented an additional support package in April 2022, aimed at supporting households and actors (notably hospital, schools, cultural institutions..) affected by liquidity issues due to the global energy crisis.The package notably reduces annual servicing fees for borrowers, establishes flexibilities for loan repayment deadlines, provides financial assistance to those experiencing difficulties in repaying mortgages, shifts reference interest rate indicators and funds an Assistance fund for the banking sector.
