Biodiesel policy (Regulation No. 12/2015) on Provision, Utilization and Trading of Biofuels as Other Fuels
In 2015, the Indonesian Government under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource amended 2008's regulation on provision, utilisation, and administration of biofuel as other fuels. The amended regulation aims to decrease petroleum import bills and boost domestic palm oil consumption. The Government set a blending target at 30% for fatty acid methyl ester (FAME).The government increased the blending target of biodiesel to 35% in August 2023.

Excise taxes on motor fuels (gasoline and diesel) and heating to be reduced by 8.33 cents and 6.39 cents respectively, which applies on 8/3/2022 and will be valid until the end of February 2023 after the second extension decided by the Council of Ministers for this measure in September 2021.

Temporary EPA waiver allowing the use of E15 gasoline
In response to market supply issues caused by the war in Ukraine, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued an emergency waiver in April 2022, allowing the sale of gasoline with a 15% blend of ethanol (E15) to increase the volume of gasoline available to consumers. The waivers will be issued on a 20-day basis until circumstances change.
