        National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP)

        The NEMMP 2020 is the National Mission document providing the vision and the roadmap for the faster adoption of xEVs (full range of hybrid and electric vehicles) and their manufacturing in the country.

        The National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020 (NEMMP 2020) envisages, among other initiatives, encouraging the development of electric vehicles so that by 2020 some 5-10% of vehicles on the road will be electric-powered (6 - 7 million EEvs by 2020)

        Law 21305 on Energy Efficiency

        The Article 7 of the Energy Efficiency Law defines vehicle energy efficiency standards for the new motor vehicle fleet, consisting of average energy performance targets. Compliance or non-compliance with the standard is measured with respect to the average (performance and weight) of sales of a brand or brand/importer.         National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020

        The Department of Heavy Industry published in 2012 the "National Electric Mobility Mission Plan" (NEMMP) 2020 which aims at promoting hybrid and electric vehicles. It sets out the target to achieve 6-7 million sales of hybrid and electric vehicles year on year from 2020 onwards by providing fiscal incentives. The main policy to achieve targets set out in the NEMMP is the "Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles" (FAME) scheme.

        Basic Plan for the Rationalization of Energy Use

        Since 1993, Korea has developed a Rational Energy Utilization Basic Plan for five-year periods, which are revised at the end of each five-year period. The 5th Basic Plan was announced in 2014, and set the target of reduce final energy consumption by 4.1% below BAU level by 2017, while introducing various measures to achieve this target.
