Portugal and EIB signs MoU to accelerate investments in the hydrogen field
Portugal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the European Investment Bank (EIB) to advance the deployment of the hydrogen economy.
The EIB will provide financial and advisory support to foster investments in eligible projects. The MoU is a non-binding agreement between the two, aligned with both Portugal PNEC 2030 and the EU Hydrogen Strategy. -

Portugal Renewable Energy Auctions
In June 2019, Portugal adopted renewable energy auctions as a procurement tool for a new utility-scale renewable projects.
Through competitive auctions, winning bidders have two modes of payment models: 1) guaranteed remuneration and 2) general remuneration.
Guaranteed remuneration - a contracted with a fixed price, bid at a percentage discount from the reference price (EUR45/MWh in the first round) and works as a two-way Contract for Difference (CfD).
General remuneration – contract without fixed price allows producers to sell generated electricity at the market price and bid at a EUR/MWh contribution to the National Electric System.

Portugal Green Growth Commitment 2030
In 2015 the Portuguese Government adopted the Green Growth Commitment (GGC). This strategy grew out of the Coalition for Green Growth launched in 2014. The GGC encompassed 16 sectors, with over 100 initiatives and 14 targets for 2020 and 2030.
Goal 1 - Increase "green" GVA: From 1.5 billion euros in 2013 to 2.1 billion euros in 2020 and 3.4 billion euros in 2030.
