EPA Proposal to Reduce Methane and Other Harmful Pollution from Oil and Natural Gas Operations
…rule includes emissions guidelines for existing sources similar to the limitations in the New Source Performance Standards.Building on comments, consultations, and hearings on the 2021 Proposal, the 2022 Supplemental Proposal strengthens the requirements further, promotes innovation, simplifies implementation, and fosters inclusivity. It clarifies the system of developing methane emissions reductions plans for Tribal Nations, and gives stakeholders a consultation mechanism during the planning stage. Lastly, it introduces the "Super-Emitter Response Program" that requires operators to respond to credible third-party reports of high-volume methane leaks.In December 2023, the EPA promulgated a final version of the rule.

Report: Examination of the Future Potential of CHP in Ireland
The Green Paper on Sustainable Energy commissioned a report from Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) to examine the status of combined heat and power (CHP) in light of market liberalisation, technology advances, new fuel sources, extension of the gas grid and financial incentives. This strategy allocates 0.25 Mt CO2 per year saving from the use of CHP by the year 2010. This equates approximately to the installation of an additional 250 Mwe of CHP plant, a tripling of current capacity. Accelerated capital cost allowance rates for low-carbon liquified natural gas facilities
Budget 2025 proposed reinstating accelerated capital cost allowances for LNG equipment and related buildings for low-carbon LNG. The Spring Economic Update includes implementation details, with eligible facilities required to have an emissions intensity of less than or equal to 0.20 tCO2e/tLNG. The CCA rate would be 50% for liquefaction equipment and 10% for facility buildings.

Gas subsidies to vulnerable households
In an effort to cushion domestic consumers from the effects of the global energy crisis, the Brazilian government increased its support to the energy consumption of poor households, by providing vouchers covering half of the cost of a 13kg LPG cylinder every two months.The voucher value was doubled for the August and October payments.
